Client on a Mac??

Since this seems to be mostly written in Java, would it be within the realm of possibility to create a version of the client software that would run on a mac?
Thanks for your consideration.

Unfortunately, I think that we Mac users are in line behind the Linux folk. I use the MPEG-2 plugin for QuickTime from Apple to watch the recordings and VNCViewer (talking to RealVNC on the SageTV server) to control the server from my Mac. It works, but isn't as nice as having an official client.

Isn't there an emulator or something? Isn't MacOS based on BSD Unix now? Can you run Wine?

In my case I am running a G5 processor and the x86 emulators won't work for me. IBM removed the little-endian commands from the instruction set so things like VirtualPC won't work there. I also don't thing the speed would be good enough to run the SageTV client on a G4.

I am hoping that the Linux port will come soon, quickly followed by the MacOS X one

Thanks for the info on VNC, I think I will try it out.

I was planning to share the windows directory and access it via SMB from my OS 10 Macs. Then just create an Alias on the desktop to reconnect the next time.

I basically begged them to let me work on a Mac port free of charge but they didn't bite. Can't say I really blame them though... they want to stay focused.

That's a shame. The only Windows box I own is my dedicated Sage box. Seven other computers on my home network...all but one of them running Mac OS X. (The other is my SmoothWall linux firewall/router box.)

I do understand the need to focus though. I can be patient.

I was just reading about Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac. It allows a Mac running OS X 10.28 or later to connect to and control Windows XP Pro. It won't work for me as my Sage box is Win2K.

The MS RDC for Mac OS X is pretty cool. I use it daily in administrative tasks at work. However, it doesn't cut it for watching video. I wish it did though.

I meant to use MS RDC in place of VNC so that you don't need the VNC server running on the Sage box.
I use OS X Samba for playback with VLC Media Player (QT wants $20 to play MPEG).

Oh. Well in that case, yes. It works great for that.

Has anyone used an AirportExtreem card in a PowerBook with VLC?
