HDPVR + 2250 = no second 2250 tuner in SageTV

Based on everything I haven't seen elsewhere, I should not be getting this problem...

I've been working on my SageTV super-cool setup for just under 2 months now. I had a perfect system setup as of 2 weeks ago based on one Hauppauge 2250 dual analog tuner, coming off 2 STBs controlled by the LM Remote software. Just recently I added the Hauppau#ge HD PVR into the mix and things felled completely apart -- I expected that at first, but I've now run out of options and hence this forum posting.

The basic problem is that SageTV 6.5.6 beta is only showing these 3 tuners in the setup menu:

(1) WinTV-7164 Analog Capture
(2) WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
(3) HD PVR Capture Device

First, I'm not sure what tuner #2 is related to. I don't recall seeing that in the past. Second, the core purpose of this forum posting is to ask where my second (#1) tuner went to? There should be two "WinTV-7164 Analog Capture" tuners listed.

Now, I've spent just under 2 weeks installing/un-installing all the software in different (intelligent) combinations. As far as today's installation went:

- HWClear to remove all drivers
- Removed all hauppauge software from Add/Remove applet (incl. TME)
- Installed only the IR blaster and reciever software from HDPVR disk
- Installed the Jan 18th 2009 2250 driver from the "beta" page of the Hauppauge WEB site. This, and the Dec 2008 version, had been working well for me with no problem.s
- Installed the newested publicly posted HDPVR driver from the the Hauppauge WEB site.

While posting, I'm also experiencing these problems as others have noted:

- The Hauppauge Blaster program which comes with HDPVR continually stops working when I start installing software like the 2250 drivers or WinTV v7. It is more or less driving me semi-insane due to the number of times I've had to fix this. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm more concerned for the deep future when I go and update my 2250 drivers, only to find that BlasterCfg reports "No IR blaster hardware found" and I'll be dumb struck as how to fix it.

- My C2 HDPVR release does not handle SPDIF from my Scientific Atlanta HD4250 STB. I will do as someone else noted and try to swap my C2 for an E2 unit. I've set my 4250 output to "Other" and done everything suggested on all the forums. This, plus the driver issue, has made the inclusion of the HDPVR into my SageTv system a real bummer experience. Nonetheless, I'm keen to working out the issues.

- HDPVR capture is just lovely and I can barely discern the difference between a live HD feed and a HDPVR capture using component cables. However, by going back from LiveTV to some SageTV menu it will become very choppy. Someone mentioned that pressing the rewind button once fixes this problem. Indeed it does. However, it's a real pain for my critical family. Is this a SageTV or Hauppauge driver bug?

- During my first 2 hours of truly watching recorded HD via HDPVR and SageTV in a relaxed, non-debugging manner, I sensed that one frame of video was being skipped every now and then. The video playback wasn't 100% linear in my subconscious when compared to a direct feed. I have the quality cranked up to "Great-H.264" and I'm using the EVR renderer with default video + audio renderers. I have a dedicated HTPC with enough processing power, with it only playing back the H264 stream and no recording going on. I know this isn't much to go on, but does anyone else have comments or suggestions? I know SageTV pretty well inside out at this stage so any comments may allow me to try some additional tests.

Thanks.

I know others have the Hauppauge 2250 + HDPVR in their system, so do these people have any help or comments for me?
