Some guidance about Network encoders

Hi,
I have reached the end of a long night of trying to get this to work and just need someone to point me in the right direction with Network Encoding
I have a WHS box with SageTV and a dual DVBT setup – that works ok
a second PC with a USB PVR2 - to get the analogue signal from a cable box that works ok
two MVPs
What I would like to do is have the WHS 'serve' the files to the MVPs and the second PC to be a network encoder.
I have scanned the forums and tried so many things - can anyone point me in the right direction? Or provide me with some simple instructions ….
I've included the two sage.properties files

Oh and I've opened the ports on both systems, via windows firewall. I though still running a trial version on the second PC - does that have an impact?

Is there anyone else out there who is doing the same?
Attached Files
File Type: txt Sage.properties WHS server.txt (20.8 KB, 331 views)
File Type: txt Sage.properties secondPC.txt (36.9 KB, 335 views)

Hi,

The fact the other pc is on a trial license should cause no issue, also you don't need to run the encoder or server sagetv.exe service as a special user with net privileges... although recently I decided to do that just to spear head any future issues.

First off, are you saying you can view the picture from the capture card on the sagetv encoder in sagetv on that machine?

Looking at your configs you have, however it seems your sagetv server on whs has not detected any network encoders... if it had you'd see your encoder server's capture card with a line like this in it "mmc/encoders/75026587/encoding_host=192.168.1.114\:9090".

On the sagetv server (whs) have you gone into "setup sources" in the sageTv setup screen and added the *new* capture card which should be the card thats in your network encoder.... it should show up its as easy as that.

Please ignore the link I posted, I forgot it was for the older sageRecorder and you really do not want to be using that.

Working - nearly

As if by magic it picked up the network encoder (I wounder if the firewall or heartbeat has anything to do with it)
The next job is to get the TV listings, so
network encoder gets video, vdieo stored and played from WHS (after all its a file server) do I run the XMLTV from digiguide on the WHS box a service or can I run it on the network encoder - if so how

Any Ideas anyone.

I'm trying to accomplish the same thing. Did you get it setup successfully?

Can you take a look at my steps here:

Is this the right process?

Thanks in advance.
