![]() And as for being able to play games and record? Well I know I have an Xbox, Cube, PS2 and a computer for that, not my HTPC. It is very sweet sounding.

WMV9 decoding sounds really cool. That's the only reason I'm buying a Athlon 64 and other "heavy" stuff for my HTPC. It takes a lot of CPU power to play i.e. 1080i with the current gfx cards.

.14 was the first version I could have it work correctly, for the most part. But it is very cool. I would suggest going with a P4 with HT instead of an Athlon 64. At least for me I like to process 2 threads at a time instead of 1 for heavy load system running multiple aps.

NV40 is the GeForce 6
Here's a link to their reviews... seems like it went on the market yesterday (maybe)...
http://www.nvidia.com/page/6800_reviews.html ... so who's gonna be the first to test this one out?

actually it does sound pretty sweet
the cards have encoding acceleration and full mpeg decoding via a on board video processor separate from the GPU nvidia seems to made the first that is PCI express compatible personally though I would wait for true PCI express like ATI is promsing instead a GPU a VPU v for visual |

ATI's new chip has virtually identical video capabilities to the nVidia:
"RADEON™ X800 graphics technology gives you more than just a great gaming experience. It also has sophisticated video processing, filtering and acceleration features that make multimedia applications more efficient, inspiring and fun. With VIDEOSHADER™ HD, RADEON™ X800 graphics technology takes advantage of its advanced shader processing engine for user programmable video effects, video quality enhancement, and encoding and decoding of many video standards, including MPEG1/2/4, Real Media, DivX and WMV9." More info is on the ATI site. |
