whats the difference sagetv sagemc

I know it's a dumb question, I've looked around, probably not hard enough, bu am I missing something here? I have Satge TV ( server and extenders) Is MC the media client if you are using pc's instead of extenders?

SageMC is a custom interface for SageTV. "Skin" doesn't really do justice to what it is, but that's the basic idea.

SageTV is the name of the company that makes the SageTV software and hardware. SageTV Media Center (also called SageTV for short) is the base-HTPC software you purchase and are probably using.

SageMC (sometimes called SageMC 16x9) is a replacement UI (add-on) that changes the user interface of SageTV. I have a little write-up on SageMC that might help explain the difference here

I must say that's pretty amazing. I am going to be rebuilding my server in the near future so I think at that point I will be really checking out the MC.

It deffinetly looks cleaner and more user friendly, I'm fine using sagetv as it is but the wife gets a bit crossed eyed sometimes.

Anyway I hope to be checking that out soon!

There's no real reason to wait imho. If you don't like it you can just swap back to the default stv. I've never heard of anyone borking the default stv by installing Sage MC but you could backup your SageTV directory to be sure.

I'm sure there isn't any reason to wait, except for the wife. When she want's to watch tv everything best be working lol.

I am going to upgrade the hardware before I do anything else... besides I have a new stuttering issue in one of my bluray backups I must figure out first... not to mention my job and my other hobbies.
