Rewind show

I've asked this before but haven't gotten any definitive answer. Is there any way to rewind a recorded show all the way to the beginning with one keypress? My kids have shows they watch over and over and having the DW have to press skip back multiple times is not a happy solution. Someone suggested if you mark the show 'watched' it should start over but that doesn't seem to work.

not sure as I have never used it, but it's possible the multi function stop plugin may help, I know in MC stop gives me an option to stop or restart things

As was mentioned, the multifunction stop plugin will do this. Setting a show as watched will also do this provided you: a) are not currently watching the show and b) have "Reset watched shows when played again" set to "Yes" (Setup->Detailed Setup->Customize)

You could also set your Rewind 2 time to some large value like 30 or 60 minutes, so it takes only one or two presses to get all the way back. (Leave Rewind 1 small for those occasions when all you want is a short skip back.)

Or before you go in to play the recorded show set it to watched and then clear it.

You should be able to just set it as Watched w/o clearing Watched after that & it should start at the beginning & reset Watched automatically when played again.

There is another command that is little-known now, called Time Scroll. Its use takes more than a single keystroke, so to rewind to the beginning use: Time Scroll, REW2, Time Scroll. It is covered in more detail near the start of chapter 4 in the SageTV PDF manual.

OK, this seems to work, but one other oddity when testing this - if you are watching a show, exit via the back key, set the show to watched and then watch it again, it does not restart. But if you exit the show using "stop" it works. Not normally a big deal since ordinarily you would watch some other shows in between, but I have occasionally noticed some different behavior when exiting a show via "back" versus "stop". I guess maybe I don't fully understand the meaning of "currently watching" - if I exit a show using "back" and I'm sitting at the list of shows, am I still watching that show because I didn't press "stop"? I guess that could come in handy if you are going to check the guide or something, just different and I want to understand it.

If it's playing in a preview window, then yes, you're currently watching it.

Even if you have the preview window disabled, the video might still be playing invisibly behind the scenes if you didn't actually press Stop. If you back out all the way to the Main Menu, and then go back once more, does it show you the video still playing? If so, then you're still "watching" it, even if there's no video window on the screen you happen to be looking at.
