What's the process to add first HD200?
Hi all!
My 3 HD200 extenders came and I could use a little push in the right direction... Do I run the setup on the server? Do I install SageMC on the server? (Will the 3 HD200s use this or will I have to install SageMC on each HD200?) If I change a setting on the server, will the HD200's reflect the change too? (Examples: Add a menu item. Add iMovie plugin, Add movie info screen plugin, etc) Will I have to add these to each HD200? When should I actually add the HD200? When I have the server the way I want it? Any guidance or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks, Chris |

I would suggest setting up the HD200s first and making sure they work with the stock UI, then you can worry about SageMC and other plugins...

There is no installation to do on the HD200s.
As SME said, just plug them in and boot the default STV (sagetv3.xml) to get them working. After that, for SageMC, you will need to install it on the server. Then from each HD200 you will be able to select which stv to use. Each Hd200 will have a xxxx.properties file in the clients subdirectory under the SageTV install directory where xxxx is the mac address of the ethernet port of each HD200.

Thanks everyone for their input!
So in summary I'm planning on doing the following: 0. Backup current SageTV directories 1. Install SageTV on the server (I'm going to start with a fresh install) 2. Copy wiz.bin file back to new install 3. Configure the server sagetv (Add video dirs, LiveTV dirs, add tuners, scan channels, etc) 4. Connect HD200 to lan and run through it's setup (Update firmware, etc) 5. Install SageMC and some plugins on the server 6. On each HD200, select the new SageMC stv |

In my experience, once the HD200 logon to the server, the SageMc theme was loaded.

Update
Ok just an update: I got all 3 of the HD200 working.
I had problems with the 1st TV I connected it to though because it's a RPTV(CRT 1080i). I already contacted support about this one. The other 2 TVs are newer and the HD200 detected the right resolutions and it was a breeze. I had to go to each HD200 and specify to use the sageMC xml file. Now I'm assuming I can change the sageMC's settings in 1 HD200 and copy that properies file to the other 2. |
