Pic Limited To BW W/Moire?

Older Magnavox LCD (pre- ATSC) TV.

Just attached my third HD200 to it via Red/White/Yellow RCA connector cable.

Works a-ok on the "AV1-In" receptacles.

But when I try it on the "Component-In" receptacles, the pic goes black-white and there is a noticible moire.

Not a big deal bc I can route it though the VCR that's normally on AV1-In and it works ok there too.

More as a matter of curiosity than anything else.... Has anybody got an explaination?

Clearly something with the TV set, but what?

Yep. Get a better set of cables. I assume you are using a standard set of composite cables instead of true component cables? I have found that most cheap RCA's only have one decent cable (the yellow for the video) and the two audio cables (white and red) are rather cheap. I had this very problem awhile back and thought my tv was broken but a quick switch out with a much better set of cables fixed the issue perfectly.

Now that nobody's pointed out any obviously-dumb thing I'm doing
gPlasky nailed it. I was thinking that RGB was no diff from tahe yellow-red-green.

I hooked it up the way he said and it's working a-ok.

Thanks gPlasky!

Component cables are red-green-blue. The yellow-red-white are COMPOSITE video and ANALOG audio (right (red) and left(white)). If you are trying to connect to a TV with COMPONENT connectors you need to find the red-green-blue cable. And you will still need to use the red and white part of the composite (yellow-red-white) cable.

Well, just to be absolutely clear: you're connecting the HD200's component output (R/G/B) to the TV's component input (R/G/B) using the R/W/Y cable, correct? Because if you're connecting the composite output (R/W/Y) to the component input (R/G/B), that would be pretty dumb.
