ATI E-home Discussion
I just put in an order for one of the ATI E-home cards on newegg.com. I got the more expensive model because I just wasn't sure if the cheaper was dependable or not. I would really like to hear from others who are using these cards. Are there any other drivers to use other than what comes with the card? Are the cheaper models installing well? Do these cards work better with the 2.0 than 1.4? Any input is appreciated.

Word is that they work but you can't set the quality settings for them

Yes, but by all accounts they record at about 2 gig per hour bit rates.
May get one as a 3rd tuner card here. Patrick |

I've been evaluating SageTV with an e-home wonder for 10 days and it works well. All you get with the card is a WDM driver and I don't know of any other application that supports this card in regular (non-MCE) Windows. I made one unsuccessful attempt to get ATI multimedia center 8.9 working but have been focusing on SageTV so I can make an informed purchase decision before my trial runs out. I have the "expensive" model with cable, FM and A/V inputs and I am using s-video to my digital cable box. As others have mentioned, you don't have control over the record quality but the default 2Gb/hour is quite satisfactory. On my conventional 32 inch TV there is no detectable difference between recorded video and a direct s-video feed from the cable box. The e-home wonder is the least expensive high quality hardware encoder I know of (roughly half the price of a PVR-250 here in Canada) and I think it's an excellent chouce for SageTV
