Two thumbs up to Sage!

I have the tendency to complain at times but I just want to give a compliment to Sage. I have run XP MCE for over 2 years and started to switch to Sage about 6 months ago. I now have a great system running on WHS with 4 tuners, 5.2TB of storage, 4 HD-200 extenders, PlaceShifters and a client. I can record 3 HD shows at once (2 via HD-PVR, 1 via OTA) and one SD show. I have everything setup nicely with Comskip, automatically transcoding, SageMC, Fanart and several other great plug-ins.

It is so nice to have a company that gives the customers what they want rather than having many other considerations in mind.

I think SageTV is a great product and I try to spread the word to anyone who might be interested in a HTPC.

And the user community is fantastic in continuously coming up with great new add ons for Sage.

Keep up the good work Sage!

wayner: funny you should start this thread. I was thinking about starting one like it myself. The end of this month will be the 6 month anniversary of my switching to SageTV from MCE and at times Beyond TV. I found Sage because of posts on the net after the HD-PVR was introduced. I was looking for a solution. Boy did I find it!! I love my system (SageTV server with 3 OTA ATSC tuners and 2 HD-PVRs fed by DirectTV receivers, 2 SageTV Clients and two HD-200s.) I have (on a few occasions) had as many as five HDTV streams being recorded. During prime time, there are always at least two viewers using a combination of Clients and HD-200s. Sometimes both SageTV Clients are in use with both HD-200s. Lovely system thanks to Sage software and hardware.

I keep my system fairly simple.... Dynamic Menus and SageTV Pro are my only add-ins.

So, two more thumbs up to SageTV. And two more thumbs up to all the add-in software providers as well!!!

EDIT: I know this topic is related to software, but the forum members here are GREAT too. I would not be running as well for so long now if not for the forum members.

It seems like I'm usually complaining about Sage, or trying to fix some problem, all the time on these forums too, but overall I'm quite happy with it. This month marks 5 years and 6 months of using Sage.

Anybody that put up with the UI in Sage v1.4 has got to be a true SageTV fan (here's an old school link for those of you that never used it)!

Man that takes me back. I remember using this interface to test SageTV out, when I was a BeyondTV user. I bought it after I realized the features far outweighed looks.

That was back when Sage was the only choice if you wanted to use multiple tuners. And it stayed that way for a pretty long time, if I remember correctly.

ha! that makes me feel like a newbie, having only started with sage v4 and all...

my take has always been that sh*t breaks, and it is the response to breaks that makes the software/hardware/company. this is where sage has always been good. and as far as the interface - flashy is nice, but i would rather see function improved by the developer and flash added by the community.

I can be even more of a curmudgeon! SageTV users today just don't understand how easy they have it. Back in my day, SageTV didn't have a fancy schmancy EPG data that covered the United States. It had 20 markets and that was it. I needed to set up a batch file with XMLTV that would would scrape TV guide info and schedule it to run every few days. It was a pain to set up, and the guide information was limited- basically all it seemed you could really count on the was name of the show, and usually the description came through too. I was so happy when Sage got guide data.

I just hope they continue to push forward to continue to be the most innovative product of its kind. They need to quickly push out streaming internet TV support, such as hulu and netflix. It has the potential to replace onDemand and PPV that is lacking in SageTV now.

It was quite amazing before I had sage, just using archaic hook up from my pc to the tv running media in media player. Very messy and rudimentary.

I was on the AVS forums and asked about a system that would have set top boxes and a server that ran over the network. I looked into Myth but that just scared the crap out of me! Someone suggested Sage and I think I ordered my Hd100's that day. Simply amazing, I had no idea anything like this even existed.... I knew about Sling box... I'll keep my comments to myself about that one. Anyway I like to think of myself as a bit of a Sage prophet, singing the joys to all my friends.... I am trying to get them all to switch or just jump on board.

Thumbs up I'll add another thumb .. 3 thumbs up to SAGE!

I started with Beyond TV and after realizing the possibilities of SAGE and the introduction of the HD100 it was out with Beyond and I've haven't looked back. I have asked SAGE for help with software and guide issues several times, and each time they have gone above & beyond to solve my issue in a very polite, professional manner. George & Qain should be the model for other vendors on how to treat and keep a loyal customer base. Thanks SAGE!

Sure, I'll toss a couple thumbs in on this one! After being a Windows MC user since 2004, the TV Puke (pack) of 2008 finally pushed me over the edge this past summer and I dove head first into Sage. Since then, I've been impressed with the quality of support, the nimbleness of the product, the stability of the platform and the overall performance.

Thumbs up Big thank you!

I've been using Sage for about 3 years now. I recently moved and there was no doubt in my mind that everything was going to be built around Sage. I love my setup and all my buddies are jealous and thinking of converting to Sage. In my mind, Sage is the most comprehensive and flexible system...Tivo, Sling, etc are not even close.

And to top it off, I think Sage is the most economical setup as well. I only have 1 STB, but I can watch HD content anywhere...why pay Comcast for extra STBs each month when you don't need them.

Thank you to Sage and all the enthusiasts out there! Great job!

My setup:
* Dell XPS, Vista-64, 6 GB RAM, 2 X 10k drives (multi-purpose)
* 2 X Dual tuner
* HD-PVR
* 6 X HD-200
* 2 X Wireless MVP
* 4.5 TB storage (ReadyNas Pro)
* Intelliremote over touch
