Problems creating an stvi to modify DynMenu (default)

I'm having problems modifying the UpcomingRec bar within the "Dynamic Main Menu by nielm" menu.

I'm using Tools->"STV UID File Difference" within studio and comparing my modified stv with a version which is default+DynamicMenu. It creates the stvi fine but when importing the stvi my modified panels are placed into the menu panel field instead of the appropriate location within the Dynamic Main Menu. I is also not removing items from that menu.

Does the integrated studio stvi creation mention not work on custom menus? Should I be using diff tools?

It looks like the most recent release of Dynamic Menus predates the introduction of widget UIDs. There are no UIDs in the STVI file, so you get different UIDs each time you import it. With nothing stable for UID File Difference to compare against, this leads to unpredictable results when you try to re-apply your changes to a fresh import of Dynamic Menus.

One solution might be to lobby Niel for an updated release with valid UIDs in the STVI. (In that case, anybody wanting to use your STVI would first have to upgrade to the new version of Niel's STVI.)

Another might be to use the Export as STVI feature in my Studio Tools, which uses UIDs if they exist but falls back to old-school widget paths if they don't.
