HD-PVR recordings and SageTV
I've been using the HD-PVR for the past week.
Out of maybe 10 favorite recordings, 7 had a glitch at the beginning of the recording where the video plays fast with no audio, and tapping the fwd button, brings video/audio in sync, and it plays normally to the end of the recording. One recording, last week's BSG, exhibited the same behaviour, but once it started playing normally, and I wanted to skip the commercials, the timeline marker jumps to the end of the recording, and playback ends. So I was forced to watch the whole video, including the commercials (that hurt). One recording, last night's Burn Notice, exhibited the same behaviour, but when I attempt to tap the fwd button, it plays normally, but the time line indicator proceeds to jump forward at 1-2 minute intervals, and the episode stops playing when the indicator reaches the end, even though I'm about 5 minutes into the episode. Just for kicks, I copied the Burn Notice file to my Windows 7 laptop, and it plays beautifully in WMC. So I'm guessing that the HD-PVR recorded the file correctly, its just that either the server or the extender is having a problem with the HD-PVR files. I'm currently running the latest release version of SageTV with I believe the latest beta firmware of the HD100 firmware, latest Java, on a fresh install of Vista sp1. I have delay_to_wait_after_tuning set to 4000 Anyone experience anything like this? If you need anymore information, please let me know. Thanks

Have you tried going back to the non-beta release of the HD100 firmware? What about trying playback on a client or the server to see if it's a Sage issue?
I'm not seeing any of the problems you are on my HD100 but I'm not using the beta. My client system is handling the HD PVR files fine using the arcsoft decoder. This post is describing the same issues with HD on the beta firmware.

I experienced some (not all) of the symptoms you describer with the 6.5.9 release on my PC Client. The 6.5.11 beta cured those for me.
Zip up your SageTV folder (for peace of mind), then try the 6.5.11 beta. If it doesn't help you just restore from your zip.

Thanks for your replies.
@Djc208: I'll try backing down to the release firmware version on the HD100 and see how it does. @HelenWeathers: If the above suggestion doesn't work, I'll try your suggestion.

I got home and verified that Burn Notice wasn't playing well on the extender. I then downgraded the firmware on the extender and tried it again. Still no good.
I then upgraded the server to the latest beta. Tried playing the episode, and its still behaving badly. Went back to Windows 7 WMC, and its playing beautifully. I'll try upgrading the extender to the latest beta firmware, and try it again.

I updated the extender back to the latest beta. I'm still getting this problem, but not as often.
Since the problem exists on the beta of the server and extender, I've enabled debugging, and will forward my findings to Sage central. In the meantime, Opus (or another mod), could you move this topic to the beta forums. Thanks

Just a quick update.
Well I'm into my 2nd week with the HDPVR, and it seems like the situation is a little better running the latest beta on the server. I've also tried installing SageTV client on my laptop, and experience similar issues with the original recordings that initially gave me problems on the release version of the software. This week, only 2 recordings gave me problems, but ran fine once I tap the ffwd button. I'm going to tweak delay_to_wait_after_tuning setting and bump it up a bit, and see what happens..
