HD-200 in Canada?

Only best rated used to sell the HD-200 but they stopped carrying it. SO does anyone know where I can pick one up in Canada?

I have bought several direct from Sage. There is a post part way down the page that details this info - shipping is something like US$35, taxes and customs will cost $30-$40 or so.

Given the current strength of the USD it has gotten more expensive in CAD recently. Shipping takes about a week. Even if someone in Canada sold them I don't know that you would save much other than shipping if you found it at a local store. The customs amount is only $8 or so - the rest is GST&PST.

I ordered mine and had it shipped to a parcel service just across the border where I picked it up so thats something you could look into if you're close.

Now that is a good idea, as I live literally on the NY border I think I'll look into that.

morikaweb,

I live in Welland and just received mine today. Cost me $44 shipping and $40.48 at the door for customs. Took like 7 days.

I paid about $40 customs recently, in Toronto, took about a week..... First time I ordered 2 x HD100 but got lucky and didn't pay any customs... guess they missed it. What store used to stock the HD200?

Only Best Rated Used to carry it. As I have a resaler deal with them it was nice for my customers as it takes a day to get the goods from them with no hassle as they are shipping from Toronto.

The least expensive way to receive an HD200, or any products from the US for that matter, is to have it shipped via parcel post via the US Post Office (USPS I think they call it). This is (or was) because Canada Post charged a very low flat rate for customs fees (ie not GST/PST but the fee to do the customs paperwork). But from the posts on here it looks like that may have gone up (used to be $5). However, not all companies will ship that way. Many of them prefer to ship UPS and for UPS there is a minimum charge regardless of the cost. I think it's like $25-35 or so. I once ended up paying double for a pair of cheap speakers that only cost $35 because of this charge and PST/GST charges.

There are a few companies in Buffalo NY that will receive parcels for you and that is the least expensive way to receive them if you are close enough to the border that driving over the border and back is a hassle you are willing to endure.

I have a friend who works in NYC and comes back every week so I have things shipped there and with the $400 tax-free allowance for bring things over the border if you have been there at least 48 hours that works great. Even to NYC it takes at least a week to receive the box.

Just wondered if there is anything new in terms of availability of the HD-200 in Canada? Has anyone found a Canadian distributor?

I don't think it is distributed anywhere by anyone but Sage.

SageTV only sells direct, so if anyone brings them in on their own from SageTV to resell they will have to pay the 13% PST & GST, then the brokerage charges and shipping and then that will be their base cost, which they will then have mark up.

You might as well just order them yourself and save some money.

wayner - TorontoSage -- you two guys put me to shame!!! Between the two of you based on your sig you've got 9 x HD-200s!!! I might have to break down and order one direct. We are about to start a big reno project on the house which might entail a new TV in the new family room, so I may hold off until the fall and see if the HD-300 comes out

Well I was lucky because I waited until I had tested the first HD200 before I bought the other 4 and then by that time the $20 off sale was on. Having friend bring them back to Canada from the US using the personal exemption also saved me the GST, PST and customs fees, so in the end it was a pretty good deal.

They are amazing little units.
