Rebooted Machine and EVERY Setting has reset
Well I rebooted my machine after Sage locked up, all my settings had reset to default.
Day by day the latest beta seems to be getting more and more unstable. Patrick |

If you didn't close Sage at least once before you crashed it then it never got a chance to save the settings.

I actually know what this problem is...
If you have SageTV open, and Windows crashes (BSOD, freeze-reboot, power loss, etc), there is the potential for file corruption. This happens with EVERY file which is open at the time that the crash occurs. SageTV probably keeps the settings file open throughout the entire lifetime of the program. I have had this problem happen a couple times when my system lost power (in my case, the settings file became lost clusters, the file system reported that it was the same size, however the file itself was actually empty). It is not a SageTV issue per se, however the easy fix would be for SageTV to close the file handle for the settings file when not in use. (Proof it is not SageTV's fault: the system crash also emptied out some source code for battery backup control which I was working on. My code was actually the cause of the power outage). It's one of those things... |
