Newbie SageTV/HD PVR user everything went well until...

Just started using SageTV with a HD PVR on my laptop before I migrate to HD200's and a WHS Server.

Everything has gone pretty smoothly but I have noticed one glitch and haven't been able to find anything about correcting it (or maybe it is supposed to work this way, which doesn't seem right).

When I have SageTV in Standby Mode and there is a recording scheduled, the HD PVR does light up and SageTV does start recording but the IR flasher from the HD PVR does not flash and change the channel on the HD Cable box. So what ends up being recorded is whatever channnel happens to be on. When SageTV is not in Standby Mode but is running and is either showing in an open window or is merely minimized (so that it shows up along the bottom windows bar as an open program) the IR flasher on the HD PVR does flash and change the channel on the HD cable box.

Isn't Standby Mode supposed to be a mode that controls the flasher, thereby recording the proper channel or is there some setting that I haven't configured? I sure can't find it if there is.

Are you running SageTV as a service?, or are you launching Sagetv manually? If manually, that may be your problem. When it is running in the background as a service with the Client (Service running in the background, then launch the SageTV icon), SageTV shouldn't have a problem sending ir commands via the Hauppauge box.
Either way, this would appear to be a bug. I would file this as a bug report, because SageTV should be able to fix that.

I was using it as a service. But, silly me, it looks like the flasher was improperly positioned during one test and properly during the other, making me thing it was the mode I was using it in that was the problem. It works great now. Thanks for your help.
