Sure wish I knew that when HD200 is mentioned that it means "ONLY" the HD200, or if it means the HD200 AND the HD100.. or it means the HD200 and soon the HD100, or if it means the HD200 and MAYBE the HD100.. Got 3 of the bloody HD100's in my house and never know if I should follow these threads or not!

Any chance that Nero Recode's internal subtitles will ever be incorporated?

I can hardly wait for this...

I would like to see external HD bluray SUP file support. EAC3to creates these files from Blurays, but they cannot be muxed into a mkv container as far as I know as of yet. If internal support of the bluray subtitles is added, I am hoping that this is a easy next step, as it is the same data, packaged in a sup file, I believe.

Just a reminder, Blurays use "forced" subtitles from time to time to display placenames and alien or foreign language. For example all of the Afghanni language in Iron Man (about 18 subs) was displayed this way.

Also, with a lot of current players (such as Zoomplayer with directvobsub), when subtitles (text or otherwise) are added, DXVA gets disabled. That means no VC1 or AVC hardware acceleration. MPC home cinema has been able to add this functionality and retain hw accleration with the EVR (custom presenter) and VMR9 renderers, so it is possible, but might be a bit of work.

I think I'm probably just a bit brain dead and I'm missing something but how do I turn on and off subtitles. I did the beta upgrade and reflashed my HD200. Just curious now how to actually make it work.

Thanks

Please read the previous posts in this topic; there will be a fix in the next version.

Grat job !!!!! Thank you soo much for this!
Almost all sutitles work nice for me on my HD200, with latest beta sageTV and latest beta firmware...Here is a list of what works for me :
- External subs - SRT, SAMI
- Embedded Subtitles - mkv files and idx/sub combo files...

Looking forward for the CC support...

One problem though : my idx/sub combo files do play but very poorly.. I mean it does display the right line at the right time , but sometimes in between this corect lines, in the moments when there should not be asny sutitles displayed... I get weird past or future lines...even from the different languages existent in the container subtitle file than the one I am set on... Like I would be set on english , and sometimes I would see franch lines... The english lines are being correct, like i said...
Possible bug?

How do you turn ON subtitles (is it automatic if the srt is there)? I have a .avi file with the same name .srt and I'm not getting subtitles in StandAlone mode (don't know about servermode).

Answer: OPTIONS!

Is this how it works in Extender and Standalone? I am getting subtitles in Standalone but not in Extender Mode with my HD200. There's no option in the option menu.

Thanks

Please don't forget about adding support for the client and mvp.

EDIT: I got it working for the MVP

Few features to add and one bug

Adding subtitle support is great move from Sage. I've been using the CC plug-in so far with great results, but having it embedded is by all means better.
Good work, Sage team!

There are few important features missing, IMHO:
1. Ability to load arbitrary subtitle file (not just by the file name, and not just from the same folder as the movie).
2. Subtitle position adjustment
3. Subtitle font and background adjustment
4. Timing adjustment

In addition, in my case some Russian .srt files are being displayed as garbage. It seems they are UTF-8 - encoded. I've converted them to ANSI (using Uni2me), and this helped. This issue has been reported.

After further testing it seems the timing is not correct at all on my mvp.

After loading the subtitle plugin and using that instead, the timing is perfect.

Got an email from Sage support stating this was already fixed in the next build. Nice job!

Exactly! This should be priorised very high since Sagetv experience may be very bad if you can't see subtitles for foreign tv shows.

So I thought SSA/ASS embedded subs were supported on the HD200? I'm trying to watch several videos with these types of subtitles and the say things like, "Dialogue: 0,0:05:13.85,0:05:17.36,Default,,0000,0000,0000,,This ship will continue to repel the Vajra attacking from outside." I believe this is ASS format.
It'll do this for many of the lines and won't display anything for the rest. :/ I am running the latest beta on my hd200 and the media center.
Good work, just a little confounded is all.

I am not able to get the SRT to work in standalone mode, but it's working in extender mode,
in standalone it's possible to "tick" the box for the subtitle but it's not shown

Firmware : 200903160

HDHomeRun closed captions

I've been a SageTV user for over 5 years now and the lack of native closed captions has been my only major complaint. So thank you for starting the ball rolling!!! Any chance you will support HDHR?
