OSD rendering errors in 6.5.12.207

The OSD controls are not showing up for me in 6.5.12.207 when video playback is in progress. Neither does the popup options menu; I can see sections of the screen zooming in and out when I hit Esc, but the options menu itself never appears. When this is happening, the log accumulates a series of exceptions like so:

Quote:

This happens on my server (Nvidia GeForce 8600GT graphics) and on two different instances of SageTV Client (GeForce 7900GT and GeForce4 4200 Go). I've tried it with both SageTV and Nvidia decoders, with DXVA acceleration on and off, and with both Overlay and VMR9. Same result in all cases.

Not sure if this is related to the SageMC OSD issues I see people posting about. I'm not a SageMC user, and this happens to me with both the stock STV and with my custom STV.

The full log from one of the clients is attached. I've also submitted a bug report.

I'm assuming the fix mentioned is the jar file. I stopped the sagetv service and sagetv and copied the jar file into the SageTV\SageTV directory but I still am not getting an option menu when I press the option key. I still don't have the volume indicator or progress bar on the bottom when I press pause or skip buttons while playing a video/recorded show.

Is the problem the jar file was intended to fix? Have I missed a step? Thanks for any help.

Are you seeing the color parameter errors in your debug log? If not, maybe you have a different issue.

I turned debug and checked the log. I did not have the color errors. I installed the 6.5.11 beta and now have the OSD of progress bar, options and sound level. So I'm not sure what would be different on my system. Would I need to do something other than putting the jar file in the sagetv directory if I'm running SageMC?

For now I'm good on 6.5.11

When you upgraded to 6.5.12 there is also a new sage.jar file in the forum thread. You need to copy that into the SageTV directory. Make sure the SageTV program is not running or sleeping in the tray. Run the upgrade then copy the file into Program Files\SageTV\SageTV. After that you can start up SageTV.

I'm not sure if this is what caused the problem or not but after I upgraded to 6.5.12 I ran the software and discovered the problem. I then looked on the forum and saw the sage.jar file. Downloaded and installed. It didn't fix it. I then shutdown SageTV and the Service and recopied the new Jar file to sageTV and I still had the problem.

I backed out 6.5.12 by installing 6.5.11. The problem was gone. I then shutdown SageTV and reinstalled 6.5.12 and imediately copied the jar file to SageTV before running anything. I started up SageTV and I'm good to go.

I'm not sure but it looks like it is a good idea to copy the new Jar file before you run anything. (not sure just my gut feeling)

Thanks to everyone for pitching in and helping.
