Track bar not working?

I have ripped several DVD's to my sage server for safe keeping. I used Brent's one click dvd decrypt script to make them in to MPGs. Some of them work well when watching. Some of them just don't play at all. Regardless there is an issue where a movie will play just fine but at the bottom of the screen the timeline bar (not sure of the exact term for it) just shows 0:00:00 to 0:00:00. I can see how close we are to the end of the show but I don't know where I am in terms of numbers. I am running a little older version of Sage which I plan on upgrading but I want to ask before I go to that trouble.

Thanks!

Neil

00:00:00 happens when SageTV scanned for new imports before the movie/video was done being written/encoded/copied.

If you change the file name, upon the next scan, it should come up correctly.

My way around this is to rip to a folder that SageTV does not scan, and then move them to the Sage imports directory.

Great that is super interesting to know and valuable information. Is there a way to make sage "re-index" the folder without renaming the file?

Thanks!

probably, but not that i have ever figured out. i usually just put a double space between two of the words in the title or something

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.mkv"
becomes
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.mkv"

i know windows can have issues with trailing spaces in file and folder names, so i try to add the space somewhere in the middle.

I feel like changing capitalization was enough to cause it to be reindexed too, but i cannot remember for certain...

Is there a way to manually force the system to search for updates?

Thanks!

I renamed the file and then selected it on the extender to play and it still shows nothing but 0's. Am I impatient?

Are you sure it was the renamed file you selected? The old one will stay there until the next scan.

To force scan, go to:

Main Menu-->
Setup-->
Refresh Imported Video

Yes, I went and selected the new file. I renamed it so there wasn't an old one. The new one clearly had the new space. I didn't rename the directory. Which is important? The directory or the file or both?

Thanks!

I really need some help. Is there anyway to delete my video library and have it reimport? There are references to videos which aren't there. They files are GONE. Also several movies aren't processing the track bar / progress bar properly and it is NO good.

Please help!

The lack of response of this really upsets me. I don't know why there is such a large community however getting certain things answered seems rather difficult and cumbersome. I am still a newbie with all this and I just have to scratch my head.

You shouldn't be upset. This is a user to user forum. If you are having issues with SageTV contact Support. With that being said did you look at the Sage FAQs? Specifically this topic? FAQ: How to move files, change recording dirs, etc.

I'm pretty sure that answers your question.
