OEM looking "PC" Box

Please excuse my newbie questions.

Is it feasible to build an OEM type DVR without separating the client and server into separate boxes? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Not sure I understand the question. The default configuration of the SageTV Media Center software consists of one app, running on one PC, that both records and plays back to a connected monitor or TV. You can configure the client and server components to run as separate apps, on the same PC or on different PCs if you like, but that's not a requirement.

Or are you asking how to build a single-box SageTV appliance that's not based on PC hardware? Not sure what you mean by "OEM looking" or "OEM type DVR."

Or is your question not about SageTV at all, and just about how to build a PC in a consumer-electronics style of case?

I'm trying to dtermine if I could build single-box SageTV appliance that's not based on PC hardware.

And if based on PC hardware, can it be fanless? That is, something similar to a cable box.

No you can not build a SageTV all in one appliance that is not based on pc hardware.

Yes but making a pc fanless can be rather expensive. Check out www.silentpcreview.com for some ideas.

SageTV requires a Windows, Mac, or Linux machine.

I'm curious. Exactly what hardware would this be based on?

The title of this post is OEM "Looking", so I am not sure what you understand about hardware. Sure you can make a PC look like an OEM Tivo type system, but the insides can still be a PC. For SageTV, they have to be a PC. There are many manufacturers of HTPC looking systems and cases. Silverstone, Antec, Asus, Dell and many others have those offerings.

Here's a few examples:

Ahanix also makes some nice cases. I have my HTPC setup in one of their D4 ensclosures.
