FAQ: buying/selling/trading non-SageTV items is not allowed on this forum

Since the question about buying/selling/trading on this forum gets posted fairly frequently, here is some clarification:

Please read the forum rules and the Terms of Service .

All posts regarding buying/selling/trading non-SageTV items will be removed from this forum, because such posts are not allowed here. This includes notices or links for items you are selling elsewhere and any other form of advertisement. If you make such offers on this forum, the posts will be deleted and your account may be placed on moderation or may be temporarily suspended.

It is permissible to post links to items for sale at retail locations (store or web based) in this SageTV Community subforum, provided the poster has no connection to that retailer. This also means that link codes which provide a commission to the person posting the link are not allowed.

If you are looking for a location to sell items, check out ebay, which is built to handle transactions and any possible disputes that may arise. Others have suggested that missingremote.com and avsforum.com have forum sections for selling.

Edit: Updated to include mention of the SageTV Marketplace subforum, where SageTV hardware and software can be bought, sold, or traded.

Since I have had to remove several offers to buy or sell items on the forum recently, I want to remind everyone using the forum that the forum rules remain in effect and that buying, selling, or trading non-SageTV items and all forms of advertising are not allowed.
