Service Mode Question

I swear I search for this before I open this thread. If I understood this correctly, running SageTV in service more will make all the features of the media center software available to the extenders (HD-200) but the software interface will not load on the server itself. Is this statement right or wrong?

Wrong on two counts. Service mode is not necessary to use extenders; enabling SageTV Server in Detailed Setup is what allows the use of extenders. On the flip side, service mode does not stop you from running a UI on the server. It just means that the UI and the recording engine will run as separate components, in different processes, rather than together in the same process.

Thanks for your prompt response. So, let me refrase my question, assuming that one enables SageTV Server in Detailed Setup and then configure SageTV to come up as a service on the server, does the Sage UI will show up on the exterder without loading the UI on the server?

The UI displayed on every Sage client (including extenders and the Server's local UI) is independent. So yes, you can use the extender without having the UI up on the server.
