Subtitle bugs in V6_5_13 beta
Hi!
Here are some bugs I notice in V6_5_13 beta: (SageTV for Windows) 1. When playing some DVDs, the "DVD Subtitles" button in the options menu is missing. Reverting to V6_5_9 fixes this problem. 2. When playing DVDs, the "Captions" button in the options menu has no effect. It cycles through CC1, CC2, and OFF, but no captions are ever displayed. 3. Playing AVI files (with SageTVPlayer) accompanied by .idx/.sub files is somewhat unstable: if we jump back/forth in the movie makes the subtitles to start blinking fast, and soon after the subtitles stop showing altogether. 4. Playing AVI files (with SageTVPlayer) accompanied by .srt files is not working. SageTVPlayer reports: "MPlayer was compiled without fontconfig support". Despite these problems, I am thrilled to see that Sage are finally working on the subtitle/CC support. Keep up the good work! Patilan |

The first one is apparently a really old bug; it just wasn't manifesting because of how the UI was structured for the subtitle options. It's fixed now.
For the second one; you need to be using a DVD decoder that supports CC and also use VMR9 for the renderer (CC doesn't work with Overlay). We'll look into the third one. For the fourth one; can you submit a bug report please? http://www.sagetv.com/bugs.html

Thank you Narflex for your fast response!
The second problem was indeed fixed by switching to VMR9. I would have never guessed that. (Yeah, I know, RTFM!) It may be a useful feature if Sage can pop up a message box there saying "Hey stupid switsh to VMR9 if you want captions!" That I did. To figure out that fourth problem, I opened a DOS box and tested SageTVPlayer from the command line. None of the text-based subtitles work. ("MPlayer was compiled without fontconfig support"). Other builds of MPlayer work perfectly with any subtitle format you throw at them. (MicroDVD, SubRip, OGM, SubViewer, Sami, VPlayer, RT, SSA, AQTitle, JACOsub, PJS, MPsub, etc..) Patilan |

Do you mean that as in "..for the current version", or as in "CC in Overlay is technically impossible"?
The reason I'm asking is because VMR9 plays quite choppy on some older hardware. Patilan |
