Disk Full and Watch Show now function

Hi, just wondering if there is a workaround the problem of when a disk is full that watch show now does not work? If I set some of the disk aside for Sage not to use, would that help? Sometimes I have shows that I do not want deleted and so causes a full disk, anyone got experience with this?

Uh-delete some files. How can "Watch Show" work if it has no disk space to start recording the show you're trying to watch. I'm not sure I understand what kind of a work around you can come up with. If you're recording that much and want to hold on to that many shows either buy more disk space or start archiving the shows you want to keep by burning them to DVD and get them off your hard drive.

Well the issue was that I wasn't getting to watch some shows soon enough and so I set the keep settings longer which ended up filling up the disk.
I have 350 gig, (extra 160gig is new drive) so that should help but I was wondering if there was anything settings wise that could help, I have disabled intelligent recording also so that all that records is my favorites.

I don't think so. Whether you tell it to use all your drive or I think I'm telling it to leave 10GB free. You'll reach a point where you have to get rid of something. I think the way I have mine setup if Sage told me my drive was full or I couldn't watch now anymore I could go into details and change it to leave 5gb free. My thought being I could immediately start watching or recording something again and buying me time to decide what to delete or start copying to another PC or burning to disk.

That is quite a good suggestion, my viewing normally includes Friends week days and also a few other shows that run every day and so the disk is getting full quite quick. Someone here mentioned a setting for 1.8gig per hour setting? Where would I do that in the properties file? That would also reduce how fast things get full if that setting was very little different to the 3.2gig setting.

in the detailed setup you can change it the liveTV recording value to like 9 different settings
but if you choose the recording quality of the favorites you record you can save disk space
like antimation does not need to be recorded at 3 GB/hour
I find that around 2 is fine saving disk space
yet at the same time my default recording rate is 5.6 GB/hour
I never know what I am going to watch when I am watching LiveTV and sports need a lot of data so I just leave it high
those files will get deleted when needed
