Problem with plugin setup
I have been trying to get the plugin from: http://www.digicasa.com/prod_sagetv_plugin.htm
working. I have followed the instructions but when it says "enter 00000 as your zip code then press Enter....Select the appropriate lineup..." I have the problem. I am only give the choices C-band - USA Dish Network - USA VOOM - USA Direct TV - USA Local Broadcast - Antenna (with only US cities listed) Seeing as I am in Canada (kinda the point) none of these choices is the appropriate lineup. What am I supposed to pick, have I done anything wrong? any help please bflat |

Sounds like the plugin isn't downloading the listings properly, or the sage properties file hasn't been updated. Double-check that you have edited the Sage.Properties file correctly. Make sure that you quit SageTV before you edit the file, or the changes will not be saved.

The file is saving the settings. I can add the line:
epg/epg_import_plugin=zap2it.Zap2ItImportPlugin save the file, run and close sage and it is till there. I agree that it seems like it isn't even looking at the plugin. bflat |

Hi bflat,
Here's some stuff to check: 1) Did you modify the zap2itconfig.xml file properly? 2) Is there a zap2itdata.log file present? Can you post a copy of that file here? 3) Do you have a zap2itdata.xml file present? 4) Did you register with http://labs.zap2it.com and cjoose your lineup there? Sorry if these questions seem obvious but I need to narrow down what might be causing your issue. Regards Lester

Yes, I meant that I replaced the line that was already there. The epg plugin setting is not placed twice.
I was hoping that this would work better than the XMLTV method I was currently using, but... bflat |

There are quite a few people that have it working and you're the first that's not gotten it to work so I'm sure we can resolve whatever the issue is. Lester

Thanks for the help.
to answer the questions above: -I have registered -I have modified zap2itconfig.xml -I MODIFIED the sage.properties file -It never generates a zap2itdata.log or any other log file -I do not have a zap2itdata.xml. It never gets far enough to download the acutal data since I cannot choose an approiate stream. thanks bflat |

Very strange.
Well the fact that it doesn't produce any log file indicates that the plugin is never called. At this stage I can only suggest two steps: 1) Check the epg_import_plugin line in the sage.properties file very carefully. Make absolutely sure there are no spelling mistakes and also make sure there are no spaces at the end of the line. 2) If you don't mind losing all of your current recordings, the next step is to completely uninstall and then reinstall SageTV. You WILL lose ALL your recordings if you do this so please make sure you understand this before proceeding with this step. A complete uninstall and reinstall may fix whatever is wrong with your setup and allow the plugin to work. Regards Lester

I have double checked my spelling repeatedly. I usually just copy and paste the line from the instruction web site. Here it is copied out of my properties file:
epg/epg_import_plugin=Zap2iIt.Zap2ItImportPlugin I also tried uninstall and reinstall since I don't have any important recordings. There was no differance. I have tried putting the zap2it class files all over the place too; in the proper sub directory, in the sagetv directory, in the common directory... It just never seems to call the plugin. |

1) The 'Zap2iIt' after the '=' is mis-spelled. It has an extra 'i' after the '2' 2) The case is incorrect. SageTV properties are case sensitive. Hence the 'Zap2iIt' after the '=' should be 'zap2it' The correct line should read: epg/epg_import_plugin=zap2it.Zap2ItImportPlugin Please correct the line and see if this works. Regards Lester

I must have added a typo when I was messing with things trying to get it to work. In the past I had the line correct as I indicated in one of my first posts, but I think I might have not had the class files in the correct folder at the time, I forgot to unzip with folders initially.
When I get back to my computer I will try again, but I have a feeling that it will work now. Just to verify, the class files should be in /sage tv/zap2it/ and the line in the properties file should read (case sensitive) epg/epg_import_plugin=zap2it.Zap2ItImportPlugin I will post back with my results in a few hours. Thanks a lot. bflat |
