Going on a trip........

I am going on a long car trip where Sage can not go. My wife would like me to copy several of the DVD's from my network hard drive to her laptop so she can watch them on the ride. As we will be mobile she can not use Sage, so can someone recommend any software which will allow her to watch these movies while on the road They are stored on the hard drive with the standard DVD format which Media player does not seem to watch directly.......

Thanks

I would use "VLC" (Video Lan Client) or Media Player Classic.... do a google search.... both are free and legit.

By standard DVD format do you mean you ripped them to your hard drive and maintained the DVD folder structure? If so, then just about any standalone software DVD player will be able to play it. I know WinDVD and PowerDVD both let you play a DVD from a folder.

I use the freeware VLC, has almost every codec in it and plays all type of files. It also supports DVD from folder. And it runs 'light'.

I don't understand why you 'can't use SageTV' on the road. Install it on the laptop and copy the files there or to an external USB drive.

As others have said above, VLC.
It's simple and easy. You open VLC, then Click File--Open Directory, and point to the movie folder where the VOB files are located.

Also you could install SageTV, like freedml said, as a 14 day trial, but why go through the effort if you are only going to watch movies, and have a folder already set up.
