Network Blu-ray or DVD Drive
Some time ago, I tried to share a DVD drive over my home network. I could never get it to work for playing DVD's. The bottom line is that I'm both cheap and lazy. I want to start getting my Netflix in Blu-ray format, but dont have a Blu-ray drive or player yet. My cheap side shows with only wanting to buy a single drive for my PC (~$80). My lazy side doesn't like the fact that my Sage Server PC is in my basement. I don't want to have to run down there everytime I want to watch a movie. Is there any way to install a blu-ray drive in my office PC and have that drive play through my Sage server in the basement? I know that I could rip the discs and save the files to my server PC, which is accessed by my Sage server, but ripping every movie before watching it seems like a lot of work (enter my lazy side again).
Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help (or confirm that it can't be done).

Look up AnyDVD HD. Then set up your BD/DVD drive as a network share. Add that share (I think it needs to be UNC format) as an import folder in Sage. I've done this w/ a local DVD, but haven't tried it on HD or BD even though my drive supports them. YMMV if attempted via network share.

Could someone help me set up my LG Blu ray drive so that I can play a movie from my HD-100.
I right clicked on the drive and shared it in Windows XP but Sage gives me an invalid directory when I add it as an import folder? I have Any-DVD Hd installed and running. Thank you!

To get it to work in XP you need to install a UDF 2.5 driver, otherwise XP can't read the file system.
AnyDVD HD has one built in which is why you can rip the disc to your hard drive, to browse the disc in XP itself you need the driver. I think theres one mentioned on the forum below, but not sure how safe the link is, so be careful. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiver...p/t562281.html Otherwise do a google for "XP UDF 2.5 driver XBOX360" and it should point you in the direction of one. Vista has a UDF 2.5 driver built in if you ever upgrade. |

Wow this works!
I had serious doubts about a Blu-Ray streaming over the network from a shared Blu-Ray drive but I tried it last night, ran the trial copy of Any DVD HD on my vista sage server, shared the drive, added the unc path to sage, fired it up on my extenders, works amazing! Didnt try my HD100 though, just HD200's.
Now if we could just get menu's and more features it would be perfect.

I got it to work on hte HD-100. However, for some reason "I,Robot" plays in slow motion.
I think it has something to do with the audio because it plays fine if I rip + remux like I used to do in the past.

Hmm, not familiar with custom buttons but could it be possible to add a 'Play Blu-Ray" undernieth the Play DVD button that shortcuts to this unc path?
