PVR 250, humm

Is this a v15? v16? Something else? Shows up as PVR 2 in device manager?

That is a -15. Big honking heatsink = -15, no heatsink = -16.

Anything special about it though? It seems like it is just the same as any other PVR2.

This might work good as my second encoder. $88 is the cheap.

It looks like a standard -15 version card. I'm not sure what makes it an OEM card, but be aware that there is currently a problem with having both -15 and -16 version cards installed at the same time.

True, but mine are 15s and I might get a 350 later which is a 15, so meh.

15 OEM is not the same as a retail OEM. I got one thinking it would same me a few $$$. Only runs in one of my three machines (and it is not a HTCP). Ended up having to get a new retail model.

These OEM boards are made for a specific kind of MB. Be aware it will be hit or miss.

Guys I would agree with mlbdude and express caution. Some of the PVR250 OEMs sold on ebay will work, but some of the newer ones will not work. The ones based on the "rosylan" design will not work WITH ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR WIN-MCE as far as I recall. I know that SS is actively trying to get them to work, and I believe its on Sage2 todo list. But I would never buy hardware with hopes that it will eventually work. Wait until support is added officially before being out $90.00.

Thumbs up

I bought one of those last weekend and got it earlier, works great with sage. I think its from the freebird or whatever the codename is design, it lacks a remote but other than that no problems yet. I installed the standard pvr250 drivers from hauppauge's website and that went through without a hitch so I'd call this a win. The part number is 48xxx as shown in the photo on the site for those looking for a specific revision or whatever. There was a big spiel about it in the mythtv mailing list so I grabbed one quick.

If the guy who's selling these posts more (he's done this once or twice before I guess, hence the "infamous $88 card" in the description) I would recommend getting one.

Now i just need another serial port (stupid motherboard only had one and thats taken up by directv control cable) for a remote receiver :-/

You can use a USB remote instead of serial.

Mine works as well. I just need to try and combine it with my other one, which I haven't tried yet. $90 is a deal.
