Pixelation on one HD channel only (with or without sge)
I have a Time Warner Motorola DCT6200 connected to an HDPVR. My regional sprots HD channel is watchable, but with lots of pixelation and general messiness. Nothing to do with the hdpvr, because it occurs even when the box is connected directly to my projector via hdmi, meaning it is even occuring on both analog and digital hd outputs. Other channels appear to be okay.
Ideas?

Sounds like your cable company is using too much compression. If that's the case, there's not much you can do other than complain to them.

Other neighbors with the same box don't have the same issue, though. If it's a problem at the source, shouldn't it be the same everywhere?

Yes, I would imagine that your neighbors would be getting the same compressed signal that you are. Is it possible that that it's just less noticeable on their TV because it's not HD or not as big? Are your neighbors using a projector and blowing up the picture as big as you are?

Can it be that you may need a signal booster?
http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/...008806b00aRCRD I've read some good reviews on these, but don't know for sure how well they work or if this is even what you need. |

OKay, I am now running an electroline fto8100 amp, which I have had for a while but needed to track down a new power supply. Definite improvement, hdpvr/extender no longer freezing, but still getting some blockiness on the one channel, but not others. I switched out the coaxial cable too.
any last thoughts before i call the cable co? thanks

I doubt they're compressing so much it's a pixelated mess. I'd call the cable company as you may have a bad box or bad signal.

FWIW - I used a small 'signal quality' program from Hauppauge when I had PQ issues. I don't know if it will work with the hd-pvr as I used it for my 2250 signal issues.
