How do I play a ripped blu-ray movie?
I just ripped a blu-ray movie to hard disk with a full folder structure and respective files. There are several m2ts files broken up. My understanding is that SageTV is smart enough to recognize a blu-ray disk that's been ripped by AnyDVD-HD and play it back.
It looks like I'm definitely doing this wrong by trying to play the blu-ray movie via imported videos since there are dozens of m2ts files shown there from the disc with sageTV not knowing how to consecutively playback these files in the right order chapter by chapter. I already know that I'm not going to get the extra features of the blu-ray disc. I just want a simple way to just play the movie all the way through. PS: The only way I have played back a blu-ray movie is by taking the time to manually find a blu-ray disk's m2ts file that contains the entire movie; however, that doesnt work when the movie is broken into pieces.

If you've got the whole BDMV folder structure there, Sage should import it as a "Blu-ray Disc". But, only the HD100/HD200 support playing them as discs AFAIK.

Thanks. I'm using SageMC on my HD200. How do I play the "Blu-ray Disc"?

You'll need SageTV's latest beta software and the HD200's latest beta firmware. Actually support started a couple betas ago, but the latest are very stable and handle closed caption as well.

And it should work exactly like a DVD, at least in terms of the user interface.

So after I install the latest firmware, where in sageMC do I select to playback the the ripped blu-ray movie? Do I just select to play a DVD from the main menu as I would a local DVD disc? If so, how do I select a particular blu-ray movie from a bunch of ripped blu-ray movies that are ripped?

The folder that contains the Blu-ray needs to be an import folder whether the HD200 is in Media Extender mode or Media Player mode. You select Videos from the SageTV media center submenu to see the BD and play it thru Sage. Videos from Main Menu for Media Player mode.
That's true for the default STV. Don't use MC so don't know but I would think it should be the same.

So the blu-ray movie will show up as one video under imported videos instead of a bunch of m2ts files?

Hmmm... it would be nice if someone has sageMC could confirm if this would work and look right. I dont want to go through the hassle of upgrading to a beta firmware to find out that it doesnt work with sageMC. Thanks for the info though.

It will work perfectly within video library and will be reconized as a blu ray in my movie wall.
Just rip the blu ray with any dvd is the easiest method. It will show as one movie not several files. You can us bdinfo to get rid of the extra files if you want. Right now blu ray live is not supported nor is the menus so it will take you straight into the movie when you start it. I have over 50 blu ray rips and they all playback perfect except wall-e. |

It works fine in MC for me with the latest betas on both the 100 and 200.

If you move the movie to hard drive, you could build an AC3 track and remux the movie with the other tracks and the AC3 track.

Yeah it is on the hard drive I just don't ever remux any of them and it is wierd that only this movie does it. It won't even let me select a different audio track

Need a little clarification!!
Will a stand-alone SageTV Server play a ANYDVD (un-altered) ripped Blu-Ray Disc? This would assume the latest beta release is used! Thanks ** If I were to upgrade SageTV to the latest beta and found I needed to go back to an earlier version - how would I do that? |

Just a follow up to my previous post......
Is there any Blu-Ray DVD conversion or format that a SageTV Server will play natively? I just built a new Sage Server and was able to play a Blu-Ray disk with PowerDVD (included with an LG Blu-Ray ROM). If we need to launch an external program from within Sage to watch a ripped Blu-Ray disk - so be it!! Thanks again... |

Zip up your SageTV folder before installing the betas. If you don't like the beta, you can restore the SageTV folder and be back where you were. Stop SageTV and service (if applicable) before installing beta or before restoring a zip.
