Arcsoft TMT3 DX Filters

Does TMT3 expose its DirectX filter? I tried installing the demo. It works as a stand-alone player but it doesn't expose any of the decode filters. I'm wondering if this is just a limitation of the demo or if the full product does the same thing?

You are correct. They aren't available anymore OOTB. You actually need to do a bit of work in order to get them usable by anything other than TMT3. AVS is currently down (as of 10:30am EST 5/27/09), but I believe this thread is the one I followed for getting them working.

How lame.

Why are these companies doing this to us? Cyberlink has done the same thing with PowerDVD and a few of its filters. Although, in Cyberlink's case only the most important ones are no longer available.

I suppose by blocking use of the filters they are able to make them more secure for the protected path required by Blu-ray. But it's still very lame.

So, what's the status of current hardware accelerated H.264 decoders that work in Sage? Apparently the current version of PowerDVD doesn't work, nor does the Arcsoft decoder (out of the box, at least). Are there any that do work? I don't have an HD-PVR, so thus far I've just been playing back H.264 encoded movies and TV shows from Handbrake, but at some point I'll probably get a blu-ray drive and I'd be interested in playing things back on my software client.

If you have a CUDA capable Nvidia card CoreAVC works. Otherwise it is strictly a software decoder.

Considering I have an ATI card the whole CUDA thing kind of rubs me wrong. Pardon the pun but I feel like a red-headed step child because none of the accelerated apps support ATI. They're all CUDA and there doesn't seem to be any push to make them OpenCL compliant.

You could install DivX. Their new H.264 filters work. I just installed on a different machine and copied the filters over to the server...used DSFM to register them and they show up in Sage fine (the beta's offer an option to choose the H.264 filters without having to manually edit the properties file).

Maybe I'll try DiVX out. I've settled on ffdshow for the time being. For some reason the Arcsoft Video Decoder gives me skipped frames using avisynth when I'm transcoding BD's. Cyberlink doesn't work because it doesn't properly report 1080 lines. CoreAVC has issues with MeGUI.

Next week I'm going to do a clean install of Vista SP2 on my computer. Till then I'm going to play around with filters. I actually need Arcsoft for decoding DTS-HD in eac3to. But I don't have to use the video decoder.
