Upgrade License Notice
Hello All,
Does any know where we would enter our license key for version 6 upgrade? My old XP PC crashed ... I was able to get everything working on my Vista PC. I entered the license key for version 4 and I now get the Upgrade Notice telling me I need to purchase an upgrade key, but It does not tell me where to enter the key. Once I press the OK button from the upgrade notice ... SAGE starts. Where can I enter this upgrade key??? I have restarted the PC on numerous occasions, but get the same results.

There is no entry field for the license key?
If you are using service mode, try disabling service mode & just run the UI to see if you then get the license entry dialog. You can exit SageTV & re-enable service mode afterwards. - Andy

I just went through this myself. If running in service mode just run the client and it will allow you to enter the upgrade key.

I am now down to 1 day
I am now getting the following message
"Trial Expiring soon" "Your temporary upgrade key will expire in 1 days." once I click OK ... I get the next message "Upgrade Notice" "You currently have a pre-V5 Sage TV key installed. You will need to purchase an upgrade key to use this version beyond the trial period." and again .. I click the OK button and Sage opens ... Still no option to enter the upgrade key. I tried both of the aforementioned methods all to no avail. I have since loaded the latest Beta V6.5.17.213 and still the same results. .. 1 more day .. we will see what happens .. maybe I'll get that upgrade license box after the trial is over so I can enter the key

OK...similar question for me. I just rebuilt my system on Vista, back in 2007 I recall support telling me that if I ever rebuilt my system, I would have to enter all three keys
1. SageTV Lite Key 2. SageTV Media Center Upgrade (pre v5 I thnk) 3. SageTV Media Center V5 Upgrade key I entered my Lite Key and cannot figure out where to enter the other two. Help! |

close out sage, and re-run it. It will then ask you for the upgrade key.

I am having same issue...I needed to do a clean install and am getting the message "You currently have a pre-V5 key installed. You will need to purchase and upgrade key to use this version beyond the trial period" I hit ok and sage just loads. No prompt to enter my key. Is there a way to force the key entry prompt? Restarting Sage does not work.

Same here...restarting SageTV (after a reboot) just prompts me with, "You currently have a pre V5 SageTV key installed. You will need to purchase an upgrade key to use this version beyond the trial period". I have two others keys to enter...but never get a prompt. I am not running it in service mode, BTW.

I don't know if this works for upgrade keys, or if you have to start with the original key here, but you can force a key registration prompt by starting SageTV with the REGISTER command line switch. I would close SageTV, open a Command Prompt window, change to the SageTV directory:
cd \Program Files\SageTV\SageTV (or whatever directory you have SageTV installed at), and execute: SageTV.exe REGISTER
