so sage wont start up and record if it isn't running & records everything?
Even the recorder program which came with my 250 from hauppauge will start itself up, mute itself and record if u schedule it to. Just to test today I scheduled a program and sage was recording everything on that channel up until the program I wanted, which was a huge waste of space. So I decided to close it down assuming that it would wake itself up to record what I had scheduled it to. To my surprise it didn't do anything. So:
1. is there a way to make it so when sage is "open" it doesn't record anything 2. Can sage be closed or otherwise using no system resources and then automatically come out of slumber to record? Thanks |

Re: so sage wont start up and record if it isn't running & records everything?
This has got to be the most common question for new users. Once you start watching live TV, SageTV continues to record until you: 1) watch a prerecorded show, 2) exit SageTV, or 3) put SageTV to sleep. So, the key is to schedule your recordings & put SageTV to sleep when you are not using it. It becomes an icon on the SysTray in the lower right corner when sleeping.
While it is sleeping, it will only record scheduled shows - manual record settings & favorites. If Intelligent Recording is turned on, that will also record many shows for you, which you then determine whether to watch or not later on. If SageTV exits when you click on the X in the upper right corner, edit Sage.properties while SageTV is not running and set: sleep_on_close=true - Andy |
