Is it possible to add a divx file to recording folder?

I know SageTV plays divx files in video folder.
But I some divx files I recorded I would like to
play from the recording folder, I know I have to make up a xml
file description.
Can it be done?
Without converting to mpeg-2
Thanks,
Ray

Yes, as long as it's a sage playable format, it can reside in either the video library, or the recordings. Use the web server utility to add the info to make it a recording, and it will work just fine.

NOTE: Sage does this internally with the 'compress' capability built-into sage. You can have it compress a recording to MPEG4, and it will still work just fine from recordings.

To be clear, whether it shows up in Sage as a recording or as an imported video is a separate question from what folder it lives in. You can move recordings to an import folder and they'll still be recognized as recordings; conversely, you can drop a video into a recording folder and it will be treated as an import unless you create an entry for it in the Airings database. It's the database entry that makes the difference between recordings and imported videos.

Or to put it another way, the only real difference between recording folders and import folders is that Sage puts new recordings into the recording folders.

Thank you:
Fuzzy / GKusnick
The information is very clear for me as you explained it.
Now if I could only understand how to get epg's XMLTV Importer
to work as well.
Thanks,
Ray

If I make up my own xml file for the divx file I want to add to recording folder,
What should I fill in for:
channel channelid?
show epgId?
sageDbId?

Thanks,
Ray

Quick related question, to move sage recordings out of the TV folder and into a video import folder do you need to do anything special? rescan directories? move with the service off? etc? or can i just move them, and sage will recognize them the next time it does its periodic scan. TIA

There's a FAQ about that.
