Usually the only problems I see are from my STB messing up in some way. I'd say 1 out of 5 problems for me are actually due to the HDPVR. And of those most are usually due to the cable box messing up first.

When 6.6.1 became the national release I did a clean install and then copied in my wiz.bin file.

Ran with defaults for 3 or 4 days and then had a lockup one night when I had both HD PVRs recording concurrently for three hours (3 hrs each, 6 hrs of recordings).

The next day I set the magic setting properties to false (it had reset to true when I did the clean install).

The only lockup I've had since was when one of my DirecTV STBs locked up with all of the lights on the front panel on at the same time. Rebooted the STB box and HD PVR started working again.

magic=true just doesn't seem to be the best setting for my particular system.

I'm running the 1.5.6.0 HD PVR drivers and other than the one STB caused lockup have had zero problems.

Could you guys tell me if the hd-pvr's with the bling lights and vents on the bottom have a fan in it. I am pretty sure they do, and if they do I think my fan might have died.

This is my third unit, so I am having a hard time keeping track of which units have what.

1.5.6 version of the drivers seem to have made a big difference. I have not had a lockup for a days now (crosses fingers).

I still find it odd that install the latest release seemed to have trigger this issue.
