It appears there's some threshold that it uses to determine which M2TS files in a BDMV structure are worth playing. Chapter skip skips to the next "worth" M2TS file, not the chapter in the playlist.

For example I just threw Hancock in my BD drive and pointed MPC at it. It says the movie is 5:50 long, which is about the length of the first segment. At the end of the segment it stopped, displayed the MPC splash screen, and then opened the next m2ts.

-edit - OK I'm even more confused by what it's doing, it looks like it plays Hancock, the long version, in the right order, picking the right m2ts files but it's definitely not seamless and no chapters.
Sounds like it needs some work.

But so does the HD200.

Yeah, but it plays Hancock just fine, including chapters.

I don't think there is a perfect Blu-ray solution yet. Not even a standalone.

I remember reading a year ago or so that people were able to play ripped blurays (through anydvd). Obviously the sage player can't play them without a re-encode but the way I remember it is that the rip would launch your respective bluray player.

Has something changed since then? If you rip the blu ray to a folder the software player can't play it then?

ArcSoft TMT3 can play a ripped blu-ray from disc.. I don't think PowerDVD can. I have a stvi that will automatically launch arcsoft to play a blu-ray folder that's in your library.

Obviously, this is only for a windows client. extenders do have SOME sort of blu-ray playback built in (main title, limited audio).
