Anyone using Picture Library
Does anyone manage to use the Picture library function in SageTV?
Whenever I add my digital photo archive (1700 1mb JPGs in a year/month/day diretcory tree) to Sage, I get java.lang.OutOfMemoryError exceptions in the log, SageTV memory usage jumps from 80Mb to 236 Mb, and the UI eventually hangs requiring a kill from the taskmanager to restart it... |

I think they're still working on getting the large amount of pictures to work properly. I currently have a couple of hundred and don't have an issue using them in Sage.

I am using it, but just for about 150 pictures of the 05 mustang. It seems to work fine with this amount. I do remember reading a post from dan saying that large amounts of pics still has a bug.

I have roughly 1200 pics and Sage works pretty well with them. Just wish I had a HDTV to view them on

What size are your pictures? I have 1,8mb pictures and the system doesn't seem to like them. It takes forever before one displays. I tried the same with pictures from an older camera (=smaller file sizes) and that worked fine.

I've loaded RC1 and now my Picture Library is working great,
a bit slow but great. One thing I'd like to know though, is there any way to make the picture library see directories? Right now I've got three photo directories (2002, 2003 and 2004), and each has about 3000 photos in it. Well, when I load these directories into the library, Sage lists all of the files in one long list. It's bad enough having 3000 photos to go through one at a time, but now I've got 9000 to cycle through. I'd like to be able to browse in the viewer to different directories and to be able to somehow fast scroll through each directory. Are these things possible with some line in the properties file? Thanks. |

Just set the library import folder to be the parent directory of these. It shows everything in the picture library relative to the library import path that it came from.
Enjoy.

Hey, is there any way to zoom pictures, to make small picture fill the screen (but maintain AR)?

I have about 1300 pictures, the average size being about a half MB, and I don't get that error.
The thumbnail generation is a little tedius, but it works pretty good. |

PIcture Library is completely unusable for me. My wife has a Canon Digital Rebel. We are talking 6.3 Megapixels so the jpgs are 2-3MB each and we have a couple thousand pics.
How can Frey say there are no bugs if this is not fixed. It must be nice to pretend there are no bugs just so you can release a product! Let us not forget about the problems with OSD on the PVR-350.

Wiith that many pictures at that size, and a 500mhz machine, you are gonna be waiting a helluva long time for thumbnails to be generated. Plus, you're not gonna get to see that res, even on an HD screen. Have you thought about resizing?

It is unusable because it is very very very slow. It takes over 10 minutes to get a response to any button I push. Thumbnails take over an hour for even one to show up This is not beta anymore! This is RC. Correct me if I am wrong, but this has been a known problem for some time now.

I had the same issue with my 2.4GHz machine before switching over to this one for the OSD to work. Resizing should not be necessary. Windows can thumbnail and display the pics just fine. I also run Digital Media Server on an 800MHz Celeron and it can display and resize the pics on the fly.

I have the same issues. VERY slow while navigating around. Thumbnails don't show up until scrolling over a folder.
The slowness, and unresponsiveness while (I assume) generating thumbnails mkes it useless for me. Jason |
