ATI vs. Nvidia & HD-PVR - Any preferences out there?

Anyone have any preferences for ATI vs. Radeon (3650 in my case)? I am also considering if the Radeon card can be a contributing factor to encoder/decoder issues that occur when I used to let H and Arcsoft auto-upgrade my HD-PVR stuff, and the subsequent tilings I got.

The 3650 is at the lower end of their high end. (If that makes sense) I have the AGP version in a PC Client and have found I cannot upgrade the drivers beyond 8.10 with the hot fix. Anything above that and I get pictures issues such as stutter and such. Have not saeen the tiling issue though.
