Tutorial on Firewire STB Control for SageTV / Linux
My SageTV running on Ubuntu 9.04 is now using firewire to change channels on my Motorola STB. It uses Stuckless' external tuner control plugin, and a program called 6200ch that comes with mythTV. Although I found fragments of information about how to do it, I couldn't find anything comprehensive, so I wrote up a tutorial and posted it here http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...do=file&id=333. Hopefully, somebody will find it useful.
BTW, I was moved to do this after two IR blasters died within two weeks, one USB-UIRT (promptly replaced) and the built-in IR on my hdpvr. Hopefully, firewire will be more reliable. |
