I put together a test UPnP2Podcast for you. Try out these steps...
  1. Download test UPnP2Podcast.exe and overwrite the one you have now.
  2. Double click and run UPnP2Podcast.exe (will take a long time, 10-20 minutes)
  3. See if a UPnP2Podcast.PlayOn (SERVERNAME).cache file gets created
  4. If so, then rename it to UPnP2Podcast.PlayON.cache
  5. Try loading up some a video list from the Online Services menu (NBC->Chuck) and post the logs.

Here's some test code for you also, give it a shot and see if it helps. (Also, its my first shot at compiling my scripts into Linux executables, so i'll be curious to know if it works at all )

This file was never created

My server shows up as PlayOn (Office) with office being the machine name. Does that affect the way it is addressed?

Go ahead and post the log so I can see what servers UPnP2podcast is able to see.

Huh, its not seeing any UPnP servers at all. How many network adapters does your PC have?

Only one on each PC. Both machines are wired into the same router. My router shows up as a UPNP device in UPNP-Inspector as well.

Is there any way to force feed the IP of the server and bypass the discovery portion?

I ran the executable via the commandline to see if it would output any additional information:

It appears to see my server PlayOn (Office) .. Not sure what this means.

*EDIT* Apparently I was looking in the wrong place for the file UPnP2Podcast.PlayOn (SERVERNAME).cache . I thought it was going to be with the properties files. I renamed it like you suggested and was able to play a Chuck episode! Not sure what you did, but it appears to work now. I'm attaching the logs again if you need to see them. Should this continue to work for me or do you need me to do further testing?

So many thanks!

Are you running SageTV Service? Either way try renaming it to UPnP2Podcast.PlayOn.cache to see if it helps.

It works on a 32-bit system I have, and fixes the problem I'm seeing!

Unfortunately, my sagetv server is 64-bit, and it fails there.
Code:
<8:41am>thunder:upnp>file UPnP2Podcast.out

I don't think its anything you're doing, I just think that perl is not quite up to running 32-bit binaries on a 64-bit OS on my version of Linux, as it does not seem to be differentiating between the 64- and 32-bit lib paths. Can you point me at the source, or provide a 64-bit binary?

Thanks!

Hi EP,

Here is my log after installing your test code you provided dinki.

And yes I am running Sagetv as a service under a real userid. All I get is "external feed is empty"

I'll try and get you a 64-bit binary out. Shouldn't be to hard, i'm just doing it all in VMware player.

Looks like you've got a bad cache, go ahead and delete UPnP2Podcast.cache. What problem were you having that you needed to try my test code?

This one...

I thought maybe the newest code might have helped... It didn't...

I also did as you suggested and deleted the cache without any luck.

Pandora

I was excited to see the new Pandora Radio selection but it doesn't seem to work from my HD-200. Two songs will play successfully but when the second song ends and the Pandora slider display starts to move to the third song, Pandora locks up and stops playing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player on the server but it didn't help. Pandora does work normally from the server console. Anyone know how to fix this?

I rebooted and things stopped working. I went through running the program again but this time it did not find my UPNP server. I reran it and this time it did find the server and created the cache file. I renamed the file and was able to pull down the episode information for Chuck. I went to Browse Hulu and found a show I wanted to watch but it failed to get the episode information. I went back to Chuck and tried to play an episode from the episode list and it gave me an error saying the video was not found on the server. I tried other shows and none of them were able to download episode information. Ugh.

Things worked great all night last night, but something just isn't jiving since the reboot. I'm attaching the logs this time.

Yeah, its still looking like your issues aren't related to this Plug-in. First off, its taking over a minute to execute which is way to long and secondly, when I ask for the "Biggest Loser" content list PlayON is responding with an error (/ unable to connect).

I'll help you debug, but you need to run exactly the tests I ask and post a log file for everyone.

First off, when I say PlayON Server I mean the machine you're currently running PlayON and when I say SageTV Server I mean the machine you're currently running SageTV on. I've color coded everything to make it clear what machine i'm talking about for each step.
    • Install/start PlayON on SageTV server machine
    • Disable PlayON on PlayOn server machine
    • Delete all upnp2podcast*.cache files
    • Double click UPnP2Podcast and let it re-generte server .cache files
    • Look up NBC->Chuck.

    • Install SageTV on PlayON server machine (no need to setup tuners or anything, just run through the setup wizard)
    • Disable PlayON on SageTV server machine
    • Install this plug-in
    • Use the test executable
    • Double click UPnP2Podcast and let it generate new server .cache files
    • Look up NBC->Chuck.

    • Disable PlayON on PlayOn server
    • Enable PlayON on SageTV server
    • Delete all upnp2podcast*.cache files
    • Double click UPnP2Podcast and let it generate new server .cache files
    • Look up NBC->Chuck.
