Happague HDPVR and FIOS Box don't get the whole picture

When I record to sage from my Happague HDPVR and FIOS HD box, I find that I don't get the whole picture. For example, when I record Fox News, on the bottom left corner the twirling icon I get less than half of that on the screen. Pretty much the same thing on the right side. I tried correcting it on the playback end, but if I adjust it, it only shrinks what I can see now, rather than reveal some part that was off screen or something. Any idea how I can adjust for this on the recorder end? I have three HDPVRs and all three do this...
Thanks for any input...

Mick

You need to adjust your overscan.

You might also want to check your FIOS box's video setup. I know mine are configurable for output resolution. There might be something there if overscan doesn't work.

Thanks. Are we talking on the client or recorder? I checked the overscan on the playback system, and it appears OK.

I think he's talking about the client (that is, overscan on the TV itself)

I use Fios with an HDPVR and don't have this problem. And I definitely didn't do anything special to make it work. I will say, that as gplasky already referred to, the overscan setting on my TV is set to "Full Pixel" (no overscan). This would be set using the "WIDE" or "ASPECT" button on your TV's remote (depending on the manufacturer). However, at other aspect settings, I do get the behavior you describe (for example, at Panasonic's "Just" setting, the picture is zoomed so that the left half of the Fox icon is cropped and at Panasonic's "Full" setting, nothing is cropped).

I'm assuming that if you hook the cable box directly up to the TV that you do *not* have this issue?

Well, I did some more looking around and here's what I've got. First, I found the overscan settings in the multimedia section of the detailed setup, but that appears to be set right, and only appears to effect the Sage Interface, not the video itself. I aslo failed to mention that this is on the PC client, hooked up to a 4:3 monitor. I tried changing the 'aspect ratio settings' to 'shrink' the video to fit, but it still cuts off where I mentioned (half way through the fox logo for example). Lastly, I tried this on my main TV which has one of the SAGETV client boxes, connected via Ethernet, to the network, and HDMI to the TV, and it comes through perfectly, so teh thought that this was something at the recorder end, was wrong.

Any idea what the issue may be?!?! Thanks again.
