USB UIRT - 2 zones, .ir config question

I've read all the FAQ's in the header of this forum, and although there is a lot of great info - many of them end up in help requests rather than encapsulating the essence of what one needs to do to get this stuff running (can you say HOWTO? :-)), some of it is also very dated (circa 2004) - and I'm pretty sure there's bee a few changes since then.

So I'm reaching out to those who have multiple tuners in their system using the USB UIRT in hopes you can answer what I think is a very simple question.

When I installed Sage and config'd my tuners (HVR 2250's) I chose USB UIRT as my controller and the Motorola DCT 2000 as my STB (which in my case is actually a pair of Motorola DCT 700's - but what the hell, the .IR codes seem to work).

Now... when I config'd each tuner, I got the same Motorola DCT 2000 option, but upon looking at the \SagetTV\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT Transceiver directory, I see only one MotorolaDCT2000.ir file.

So the question.... Do I just need to duplicate the file contents within the same file, then prefix the copy with a "z1" to designate "zone 1" or... do I copy the MotorolaDCT2000.ir file and call it say MotoloraDCT2000Z1 - which in itself contains the "z1" prefixes - then reconfig Sage and have two config files to choose form:

MotorolaDCT2000
MotorolaDCT2000Z1

Selecting one driver file per tuner via the Sage setup utility and then be off to the races?

I do have a 1/8" stereo to dual 1/8" mono adapter plug which I'll plug into the arse end of my USB UIRT and drive two Hauppague IR transmitters - which will be glued/taped/melted/ground into the bevels of my Motorola DCT 700's.

And if I ever get all this shite (sic) working, I promise I will do up a proper HOWTO with diagrams and post it here.

Thanks,

With mine I just ceated just created a new box when I I was going through with seting up the video source. the first one I named DCT6416 and the second I named DCT64162. After that I went and edited the .ir file's, z1 for DCT6416 and z2 for the DCT64162. Restarted the sage service and it worked great. Hope this helps.

You might check out this link

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...usb-uirt+zones

There are some nice diagrams on page 6.

Other details about the IR files are in the same link.

I bought a metal jacked 1/8" stereo plug from Radio Shack and used some of the Hauppage IRs, cutting off the factory connector and replacing it with the 1/8" stereo plug.

You should be able to copy the .ir file and make the edits. Keep in mind that you will need to make 2 modified ones... zone 2 and zone 3 (I believe the rear jack is zones 2 and 3). You can't use the unmodified file, as it will not have zoning info, which means it will be transmitted out all zones.
