Setup up future recording not presently in the 14 day tv data
Hi is it possible to setup recordings based on a specific word for example 'smallville' even if it is not in the current epg data to set up a series recording?
havnt had time to install the trial yet to find out if this is possible cheers Mike |

I don't think so, if your question is starting from zero. A show you usually watch should be in your favorites list, which are recorded unless previously watched. If not a current favorite and you have a old recording, you can use it too add the tittle to your favorites.

an example would be smallville will be on channell 4 (at some point) but it ahs nor been confirmed as a certain start date yet
so if i could say record 'smallville' that is not yet in my prohram guide i would not have to check for the program every time i update xmltv to set up a series edit: just had a though if i renamed X recording to be called smallville and added it to my recordings could i then select this as a series recording Last edited by m1ketuck; 04-03-2004 at 09:31 PM. |

Interesting Idea, but doubt if it would work. SageTV is very sensitive about its program names and I believe a rename would cause SageTV to remove it from the recordings and place it in the video library. The video library does not allow you to add a program to the favorites.
Are you referring to the smallville currently on the WB channel? If so, and you do not currently get the WB channel you could probably play games with the EPG data and download the WB channel from a provider. Mark it as a favorite, then go back to your correct EPG data.

Yes, I believe the fake entry will work. It would be interesting to find out.

I just realized, that you may have a problem with the Show ID:, I am not sure if SageTV uses this when looking at favorites. I guess this boils down to what SageTV stores for favorites the show name or the Show ID. Use of the Show ID may be the reason you can't add a show title to the favorites like you want too.

i cant see XMLTV supplying a showid, but maybe it does
if i cannot setup series recordings using xmltv data i will have to stay with beyondTV I currently have a 1 tuner system using beyondTV and have just bought a second tuner so i though i would give sage a try with the good exchange rate from us dollars to gb pounds beyondtv cost me £25.00 and sagetv will be about the same so ill probably purchase sage aswell to try out 2.0 once i get the trial working with 2 tuners and XMLTV (with series recordings of course) Last edited by m1ketuck; 04-04-2004 at 02:39 PM. |

I am fairly sure you would be able to select favorites using xmltv data or there would be complaints about it. I also did some testing and it does not look like the favorite logic uses the ShowID. I looked at a program that appears on two different networks, it uses a different ShowID on each of them. I made it a favorite and SageTV showed the show as a favorite on both networks, even though I only selected one. So I think SageTV only uses the series title which I consider to be correct.
