Recommendation: 2250 or Avermedia Duet?

I've heard the duet has sleep problems. I have an older PVR 500 for analog so I'm only interested in ATSC/Clear QAM tuning.

Thanks!

honestly, if you are only interested in ATSC or Clear QAM, I'd recommend an HDHomeRun. Costs a bit more than either of those, but I feel the tuner quality is higher... also doesn't take up the computer slots...

I'll second Fuzzy's recomendation. HDHomeRun, Solid procuct, Great support, and I'm a fanatic about my system and using S3-sleep. S3 is 100% with HDHomeRun's.

Yes 2 channels at a time

And it can't interface directly with the HD200, still requires a Sage Server of some type. Your server runs the software to interface with it.

I have both a HD Homerun, and the HD Duet. The HD Duet does not work with Windows Home Server, but it does work ok with Windows 7 which is what I am using it with right now.

I like my HD Homerun better, only because it works with Windows Home Server. But you could almost buy 3 HD Duets for the price of one HD Homerun. And I haven't had any of the disappearing HD Duet, or sleep problems with mine.

I dropped my HDHR for the duet simply because it picked up more OTA channels. In addition, I was able to take one more electrical device off the grid (not that it consumed a whole lot).

The only times I've seen the HDHR outdone on OTA reception is when your signal is TOO strong. It really doesn't have that aggressive of AGC to knock down too hot of signals... that said, most people don't have problems of too strong of signal. On weak signals, the HDHR is second to none. The HDHR, being a network device, also has the advantage of being able to be located anywhere, like right next to the antenna. This can greatly improve its ability to get glitch free reception.

I should mention to be fair that I bought the HDHR as soon as it came on the market. It may be that they have upgraded the chips in them since then. It's a fine product and getting as close to the antenna as you can is certainly optimal.

In regards to my setup, I have found the duet to be much better in picking up more distant, lower reception, channels than my HDHR. There are a lot of factors that play into OTA reception.
