SageTV Client to Full SageTV Server - Is There An Upgrade Path?

Just out of curiosity, can I upgrade my SageTV client to a full server if I want to? And if so, what is the cost difference?

Thanks for any help.

I'm not aware of any client-to-server upgrade deal. Questions like that are probably best directed to the sales email address.

Technically, nothing stops you from installing the full Media Center product on a machine that once had the Client product installed.

The question is what are you trying to accomplish by that?

I was wondering the same thing... If you're currently using a client license, you already HAVE a server running...

I converted a sageclient into a network encoder and needed a full license.

Yeah, I guess that would be the only time it would be necessary.. but no, i don't think there is any sort of deal. Sage doesn't even cut you a break moving from a windows server license to a linux server, for instance...

The reason for the question though is there are more "potential" reasons (that don't work) than there are "real" reasons (which do work) to convert. Just want to make sure the OP hasn't made a bad assumption or something, save them some money.

It just happens that the computer running the client is by a second cable box far away from the fisrt one, that was wall. And the client is on most of the day to catch cartoons for my son.

Nothing devious, just curious.
