HDPVR and Windows 7 64 bit?
Has anyone had any luck with Windows 7 64 bit, HDPVR and SageTV? After changing to WIndows7, this is the only thing that don't work. I have read where there is a beta for this? Is this true? I doubt Hauppauge is that far along since they always seem behind. Can somebody give me their input?
Thanks, fencepost

Works for me
My HDPVR works with Win7 X64, and also worked with Vista X64...
What kind of problems are you having? I did notice mine seemed to 'lock up' more often when I first went to Vista, but I though it was a coincidence. I removed the top cover, installed a fan, taped over the front IR window as suggested by others, and it's rock solid now. Larry |

This site http://blog.arogan.com/2008/06/haupp...odel-1212.html had a step by step diagram on adding a fan using velcro dots and plastic mesh from Michael's. I used the existing 5V fan wires to spin a 12V fan slowly, but still plenty of needed cooling on my HDPVR. I added the tape over the front at the same time, but I believe the fan was the real fix. I haven't tried the beta drivers, the 1.5.6 worked for me. After reading about all the problems people have had with the HDPVR, I think a fan and some electrical tape would be a first suggestion to anyone having issues with this device. My motherboard is a Gigabyte, and I'm using the stock USB connectors for my HDPVR, USBUIRT and a few other devices with no problems. Larry |

The Vista drivers work fine (either 32 or 64 bit)

There's virtually no difference in the drivers for vista and win7, in most cases, vista drivers work perfectly on 7.

good news - thanks. I was planning on moving from XP, but was hesitant based on these drivers.

I have tried the Hauppauge driver for the 64 bit on Windows 7 and they work fine. Only thing is it doesn't seem to like Sage service running, so I turned it off. Don't know if I even need it anyway. Just using for DVR, nothing but on local computer. fencepost

Which drivers exactly are you using? I'm using 1.5.6 (from Hauppauge's site) and don't have these problems. The SageTV service runs fine on my x64 Windows 7.

Did you have to change user and logon from what you were using on the older system?

I just upgraded (clean install) to Win7 x64. In Vista, I was using the previous driver 1.0.5.301...and it worked perfectly with my setup.
I did see the newer driver 1.5.6 on the website and almost updated in Win7..but then noticed it said "beta" in the zip file when I downloaded. Not sure if that is correct or not..but I was afraid to update to it...since 1.0.5.301 worked very well. Maybe I am just to cautious, but the 1.0.5.301 seems rock solid on my setup. |
