HD200 on Network

Can someone tell me if the HD200 should be seen from another PC on the network re: network neighborhood? I am trying to get files to support for an issue and apparently i keep cutting off the file. I have been telneting in and using cat filename and then copy and paste. The window size has been cutting off the data. I am being told to simply network to the HD200, but it is not visible from any of my machines. Do others see the HD200 on their network? If you do, what would i be doing incorrectly?

thanks for any help.

See this FAQ: How can I get a debug log for the STP-HD200?

Thats exactly what i did. As far as retrieving the logs I used option B pt #1 (putty then cat and copy and paste).

I am not sure what this means "Copy the file using a file browser on a networked PC if the Windows File Server option has been enabled". I have enabled the windows file server option. Does this mean i should be able to see the hd200 on the network?

thanks..

Have you fully rebooted the HD200 after enabling the Windows File Server option (unplug the power cord), like the instructions say? If you've done that, then I'm not sure why it wouldn't be visible on your network via something like Windows Explorer.

Yes it was power cycled as per instructions. So your saying that the HD200 should be visible on the network via network neighbourhood? I will review this again tonight, but I am sure it 1) the option is enabled 2) hd200 is not visible

thanks..

When you enable it make sure you put the HD200 in the same workgroup as your PCs.

Yes, it should show up in your network neighborhood. All of my extenders do...

Some progress. I can see the HD200 on the network. I had the workgroup name and device name incorrect. THe second parameter is your workgroup name and the third is the name you want to call the HD200. I misunderstood that.

However now that i can see the HD200 when double click on it from network places or explorer it just comes up with Printers and Faxes? I dont see any files or directories.

Can you copy a file to a USB drive? When they are inserted they are mounted to the /tmp filesystem, if you've got putty access to the HD Theater, could you just simply copy the logs?
