Put Windows 7 Computer to sleep

Hi, I tried searching for this but I kept getting informnation on the Hauppage Remote.

I am currently using the Windows Media Center remote, and it works to put "Sage" to Sleep, which can show the desktop or screensaver. That works.

However I was wondering if there is a way to set SageTV to put the computer to "Sleep Mode" when I select Sleep for the SageTV computer Application.

I am trying to use the SageTV Server on a dedicated computer and trying to treat it as a "Consumer device" for Power Savings and heat reduction. Plus I am not using it to record anything so I don't need to worry about automatic wakeups. It just needs to wake up when I click any remote key or if necessary the "Power" remote key on the Media Center remote.

Any help or post that details the change would be great. Thank you...

You would be better off running SageTV in service mode on that PC. Your Media Center remote should treat the Power button on that remote as putting the PC to sleep. If not just change the power settings on your PC.

If you have SageMC loaded, you can configure the screen saver to be a command line executable. If you have Sage sleep set to show the screen saver, it should then fire off what ever the executable you specified is.

Something like this executable should help you sleep: http://www.gammadyne.com/cmdline.htm#sleep

Thank you. Currently the power button does not tell the Computer to Sleep since I disabled the Media Center functionality.

I will look into SageMC, since if it runs an executable I should be golden. Currently just running the default SageTV Profile, so may take me a while to really try this out, since I would want to have all the current functionality duplicated and tested before moving onto power settings. :-)

Thanks again....

You can also use my software LM Remote KeyMap to disable the native mappings of the MCE remote (without needing to disable Media Center) and remap the power button to actually put to sleep your computer (the link show you how to do this with the Green button, this is the same thing for the power button)

Regards,
Stéphane.

You should be able to just set the timeout in the power managment settings and the computer will go to sleep on its own. Sage, when recording or viewing something, will keep it awake. As soon as the 'keep-awake' activity stops, and if you aren't doing anything else on teh PC, it should start the timeout and sleep.
