Seems fairly self-explanatory. It's a Windows app that can play back recorded content from a DirecTV DVR on your PC over the LAN. What more do you want to know?

According to their FAQ, it's not a way to get DirecTV DVR content into Sage, if that's what you're wondering, at least not without some sort of analog loopback hack.

DirecTV2PC only gives you access to recorded shows on your DirecTV DVR. You can't access live TV, the guide, or schedule recordings. Also, if you don't have a HDCP path to your monitor, it won't function.

Yeah, I've just discovered that. My three-year-old Cinema HD monitor is apparently non-compliant, making this software fairly useless for me.

The SageTV HD Theater is a client/extender it's a way of playing content already on your PC on your TV without having your computer connected directly to your TV.

It's got nothing to do with recording content into your PC. For that you need some sort of tuner/capture device, and if DirecTV HD is your source your only option is the Hauppauge HD PVR.
