Corruption of Tasklist.xml

My WHS had stopped hibernating. I thought the issue was with Lights Out, but after working with the LO developer, it seems that STVLOS is corrupting my takslist.XML and the system stops hibernating. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling STVLOS with no luck. I currently have STVLOS uninstalled, deleted the tasklist.xml, created several hibernate and wake events and LO has been working fine. Any suggestions????

edit: STVLOS and LO did work when I initially installed STVLOS. I'm not sure when things went south.

Sorry to hear you are having problems

I will see what I can do to resolve it but I will need some info from you in order for me to try and debug the problem. Can you PM me with the following info:
- The recording_schedule.txt file in the C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV folder
- The tasklist.xml file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LightsOut folder
- The STVLOS folder (all contents) in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data folder.

Ideally to do the above after having reinstalled STVLOS so that I can see what the error is.

Thanks

Will do. Give me a couple days to reinstall and generate a few log files. The log files can be large, 10 - 30MB each, so I may need to send them in batches.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Well you can just start with one log - Also if you ZIP it (as it is text) it will be a lot smaller. In the meanwhile if you have any corrupted TaskList.xml files (that you might have sent to the LO developer) then that would be a useful start for me

Things seem to be working again after the STVLOS re-install. This is the second time I re-installed, when the first one did not resolve my issue I thought it was a Lights Out issue. I have attached the files you requested which are from the second (working) reinstall. I also attached another tasklist.xml that I sent to Lights Out when I was having problems. I also PM'd some info from the LO developer.

Thanks

LightsOut V1.5 has changed the calendar format

Will you be able to modify STVLOS to accommodate this?
http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.p...50-for-whs-v1/

The changes are documents on Page 8 of the "What's changed" doc

I will look into what needs doing to accommodate the change - I figure it should be fairly easy.

no tasks in Lights out callendar

Hi,
I installed Lights out and your plugin and went through the install process, all seems to be ok - recording_schedule.txt is created and populated but the lights out TaskList.xml stays empty... I have restarted the services but made no difference.
I am using Light Out 1.0.4 and STVLOS 10.0.0.34.
I checked the path in the .ini and that all seems to be correct.
Do I need to get a license for Lights Out or should this work?

Any idea what to check?

It sounds like you are doing everything right. You should check the Log files and double check the ini file.
I attached my ini file and a log file so you can see what they look like.

STVLOS.ini.txt

SageTV.LightsOn.Service.2011-03-01.log.txt

I cant figure it out... the files seem to all correct...
I have attached the ini and log file as well, if you could have a look if you spot anything?!

I noticed that in the STVLOS Backup folder the XML files are all without entry... so the problem must be around that area I guess (also attached)
I also attached the the recording_schedule.txt - that lists all the scheduled recordings.

thanks for your help!

I can’t find what’s wrong.
The STVLOS log file shows the “Tasklist.xml” being created.
You should look in “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LightsOut”
to be sure that it’s there and check the date to see when it was created. You might try deleting it and see that STVLOS re-creates it.

OK, I got it...
reinstalled and double checked everything several times but no change...

THEN, I created a manual task in Lights Out and restarted the STVOL service
,then it started populating the xml file!!!

I am not sure what was wrong but maybe the XML file was somehow not right and by writing to it through Lights Out it was corrected?!?

Thanks for your help and checking the files out anyway!!

I suggest you look at about page 23 of the manual for LightsOut which shows you in detail how to do the set-up so that if a client or extender is running it won't hibernate the server. I find that with an extender it has to be physically be off (i.e no mains power to the adapter) for LightsOut to see that it is off.

I have uploaded a new version of STVLOS (1.0.0.41) that now supports the Lights-Out Beta 1.5 for both Windows Home Server Version 1 and 2011.

The Lights-Out TaskList.xml file may need to be deleted and recreated (by creating a temporary calendar entry) to force the new format (or edited as described in the Lights-Out manual) - depends whether you have bespoke calendar entries.

no tasks in callendar

Hi,

My system: WHS V1, LightsOut V1.5.1.1555, SageTV V7.1.9

After the installation of STVLOS, I get no entries in the calendar of LightsOut.
In STVLOS log file is a warning displayed.
Who can give me a hint what I should to do?

thanks you!

Apologies but I completely missed this post

Is this now working for you?

Sometimes this issue can be resolved by adding a manual entry in the LightsOut Calendar and then the utility should be able to write its entries.

I will try and keep a more attentive lookout for replies to this thread
