The 'sleep' function in Windows?

Hi again, lots of questions lately... my tax return comes this week so I'm ancy

Anyways.. I am curious about SageTV working with the sleep function in Windows. I'd like to sleep my PC until something is needed to record, so I can keep noise and heat at a minimum in the case.

I am not sure entirely how this works out, so let me know please!

When you put Sage to sleep, it is basically turning off any user interaction with the program and Sage will just record what you have told it to record. It's kind like the "low power" mode for SageTv.

There have been a couple programs written that will actually wake up your computer if it falls asleep and needs to record:

It takes a bit of work depending on what you are looking for. Some setups do not sleep on their own without some work, for instance me. I have to run SageTV in to a RamDisk in order to get the computer to sleep on its own when Sage is running (sleep mode). Some people prefer to manually put their systems to sleep and if I went this route, I wouldn't have to use the ram disk.

I recommend sifting through that thread and gathering the information and seeing what other users have had to do.
